TECHNOLOGY TO ZERO
             ZERO CARBON ENERGY
 
To get to zero CO2 emissions the world must CONVERT its present fossil fuel energy energy economy to the zero carbon energy economy that only can sustain the future of civilization.
 
This means ONLY Zero carbon renewable energy.
 
This excludes carbon capture of fossil fuel energy and it excludes biofuels and biomass.
 
On the basis that the best the world could do is virtual zero CO2 energy all the science papers published say that to get to zero the world has to in addition develop the capacity to extract carbon direct from the air.

By current technology each recognized zero carbon energy source has the potential to provide more than today's current world energy needs.
 
Energy sharing and storage is needed to supply the world with zero carbon energy. The technology exists for this
 
Power would need to be shared over longer distances and the technology to do this more efficiently exists.
 
Energy Conservation
 
The single biggest fastest energy source is conservation.
We waste more energy than we use.
 
However this has been known and promoted for thirty years.
The fastest solution is to incorporate energy conservation via technology into all developments and products.
 
Use energy less.
Use manual technologies whenever you can- get fit for the Earth.
Use the most efficient energy using things more efficiently.
ReduceReuseRecycle.
Don't spend money if you don't have to.
 
We have to stop building with GHGas emitting steel and concrete.
Instead sink carbon by gloing back to building with wood.
We have to stop using concrete and ashphalt to build roads.

A zero CO2 energy world is not only possible, there is every reason to think it would be a far better world than ever before.

The lack of appreciation of this is probably the greatest disincentive to people pushing for real action on global climate change.
All people (including scientists) are not confident that there is any alternative to the fossil fuel economy.
 
All the zero CO2 power the world needs exists. Planet Earth is awash with power.
The world also has all the technology needed to make that power available.
 
 
Zero Carbon Sources
 
Planet Earth is highly energized
 
The solar energy drives the huge ocean, water and wind forces of planet Earth.
 
Inside the Earth there is unlimited geothermal energy.
 
These are the only long term energy sources and they are also the only non polluting energy sources.
World Wide Renewable Energy Development is NOT an Economic Cost
 
It would be the Greatest Economic Benefit Ever

Climate crunch: Sucking it up

'It's simple to mop carbon dioxide out of the air,       but it could cost a lot of money'.

There it is - there are several ways to do it and they have been shown to work in small scale field tests.

But the  climate change scientists and the evironmentalists are not even mentioning it.

This is the absolute line for the survival of humanity and life on Earth.

The scientists have proved in their research papers that if we (do get sane and) get to virtual zero - if we can't take some CO2 out of the air we (humanity) still end up with  runaway global  heating and catastrophe.

  • The entire world resource base of geothermal energy  has been calculated in government surveys to be larger than the resource bases of coal, oil, gas and uranium combined.
     
  • For every 100 meters you go below ground, the temperature of the rock increases about 3 degrees Celsius. Or for every 328 feet below ground, the temperature increases 5.4 degrees Fahrenheit.
     
  • New facilities can produce electricity from geothermal energy for between 4.5 and 7.3 cents per kilowatt-hour, making it competitive with new conventional fossil fuel-fired power plants even under current carbon perverse economics.
     
  • The typical lifetime for today`s high energy geothermal technology around magmatic centers - from 5,000 years to 1,000,000 years - is so long that it is  a renewable resource.

    Then there is the vast cutting edge research potential of ultra deep geo thermal.
     
    In 1995 Germany used this custom designed drill to drill 5 miles underground.
     
    GEOTHERMAL
     
    Geothermal is one good example. It will never run out and is non polluting.
    It is applicable for every home (geoth heat pump) and every region.  The Ring of Fire (see right) is widely distributed.
     
    It's applicable from a heating a home to smelting metal.
     
    It is also the perfect conversion for the fossil fuel industry.
    The industry has all the technology needed for geothermal includng the prospect of ultra deep geothermal.
     
    The fossil fuel industry could mine heat directly to generate electric power at the surface which would  drive the same steam turbines and go to the same grid as today.
     
     
    Exponential renewable energy economic growth
     
    Carbon must be taxed starting heavily with say $100 a tonne and would have to rapidly $500 a tonne.
    Investers would cry murder and switch all their money out of fossil fuels into renewables.
     
    Strangely enough we can only save ourselves by keeping to the free marke growth economy even though this as market failure is the very cause of the destruction of the planet. While fossil fueled economic growth can only end in catastrophe we must have rapid economic  growth to build the renewable energy infrastructure world wide in a matter of a few years. Fossil fuels have to rapidly dedicated to the development and redevelopment of global conservation and renewable energy infrastructure and it's only the big bad fossil fuel corporations that have the ability to do that. They will at the same time have to truly transform themselves from fossil fuel to renewable energy corporations. If they refuse their charters would have to be revoked.
     
    To finance this massive global venture the governments have to regulate the banks to prohibit the financing of the destruction of the planet (unsustainable financing). As much money as it takes to rebuild the world must be provided. And profits would be restricted to sustainable (renewable/conservation) investment and development.
     
    The monetary and economic system have to be redesgned to rebuild the world not to run on fossil fuel energy
    The all time biggest of big lies is the universally accepted statement that mitigating global climate change is an economic cost.
    Somehow we are supposed to believe that while a new mine of a  coal energy plant or a new bridge is an economic benefit - building a new smart  energy grid or a solar thermal array is a cost!
    There has not been one full cost/full benefit published comparison of fossil fuel energy compared with cleam newable energy.
    The Stern Commission's 2006 Economics of Climate Change is certainly the best but even that acknowledged the full economics benefits of renewable were not included and still disounted future costs.
     
    The IPCC made the outrageous statement that it had not been proven that the economic benefits of mitigating global climate change out weighed the costs!!
